Empowering Education with AI: From Concepts to Implementation
The history of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is intrinsically connected with our journey to understand the building blocks that define what makes humans intelligent. In Education, Al can be a powerful tool that fosters the creation of adaptive, engaging, and effective learning situations, paving the way for improved educational practices. However, the widespread use of it has also raised concerns, fears, and uncertainties among educators and practitioners. How can Al seamlessly integrate into education? Can it enrich disciplines, reduce teacher's workload and, at the same time, improve learning? What about assessment, equity, and inclusion? This talk will briefly explore the fundamental concepts of Al and its significant applications in the field of education. Finally, a framework to consider the risks (e.g., fairness/bias, accountability, transparency, and ethics) associated with the integration of Al into educational practices will be presented to equip us with the knowledge necessary to embark on the exciting journey of revolutionizing the world of education through Al.
