American writer and poet Frances Richard received her BA from Oberlin and her MFA from NYU. She presents a talk about Gordon Matta-Clark, an artist known for his site-specific installations. The talk is centered around the theme of “language in space”. This lecture does not engage in the functional aspect of architecture, focussing rather on “metaphoric voids, gaps, left-over spaces and places that were not developed”. Presenting a collection of photographs, sketches and hand-written notes, she analyzes the work of Matta-Clark from a linguistic and spatial perspective.
