The 2017 Whitney Biennial + Controversy, Panel at Pratt

Pratt Institute sponsors the panel discussion "The 2017 Whitney Biennial, What's Wrong with this Picture?" Recorded April 19, 2017, 5:30 - 7:30pm Higgins Auditorium, Pratt Institute Brooklyn Campus. Invited Guest Speaker and Artist Bill Gaskins with Pratt Fine Arts faculty Lisa Bateman and Social Sciences Cultural Studies faculty Ann Holder are Presenters for the evening. Pratt Institute Student Panelists: Michelle Wen, Rachel Cohen, Adriana Green and Jive Poetic. The public discussion centers around the controversy of the Whitney Museum's presentation of white artist Dana Schutz' painting of deceased Emmett Louis Till (1941-1955), an African American 14 yr. old lynched by White Supremacists in 1955.
