Black Solidarity Day: Envisioning Black Futures with André M. Zachery

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Black Solidarity Day, Black Lives Matter Pratt welcomes interdisciplinary artist and technologist André M. Zachery, Artistic Director of the Renegade Performance Group, for a special lecture-demonstration on Envisioning Black Futures. Zachery discusses the creative intersection of movement, space design, and multimedia in his practice, and gives us an insight into his works Untamed Space and The Inscription Project. Engaging with such diverse references as Kerry James Marshall, the Weeksville Heritage Center, the ring shout, gentrification, and NYC graffiti, the artist invites us to consider the complexity and diversity of Afrofuturist practices.
