In an independent study conducted by Resource Recycling Systems (RRS), 63% of universities sampled in the US have an established recycling program on campus. Yet, the average recycling rate is only 24% and the average diversion rate of recycling and composting activities is 45%. (Resource Recycling Systems & Domino, 2021). Pratt, itself, produced 1,244.8 tons of total waste in 2019 and its diversion rate was 31% (STARS, 2021), indicating a need for optimization. These statistics suggest that there is a significant need for increased awareness, investment, and participation in recycling programs to achieve greater waste diversion and promote sustainability. How can we increase the diversion rate of Pratt by separating waste from recyclable materials and contributing towards United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) 11, 12, and 17?

In today's fast-changing world, creative and cultural leaders play a critical role in society. The
Arts & Cultural Management (ACM) and
Design Management (DM) programs help these leaders stay up-to-date and address social challenges. Through the Integrative Capstone Project, which is a crucial aspect of the Master in Professional Studies (MPS) degrees, participants can apply their knowledge to real-world issues. Capstone projects prioritize the 3C's (culture, community, and commerce) and/or TBLD+C (people, planet, profit by design and culture), aligning with the G20 Cultural Leaders Training Network and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The program encourages participants to lead with purpose and create positive change.
