Catherine Opie is an American photographer based in Los Angeles where she is professor of Photography at UCLA. Opie's work investigates a broad range of important motifs that are resonant in the history of photography. Her work has been featured in numerous museum exhibitions, including a solo exhibition of portraits and landscapes at the Wexner Center for the Arts and a mid-career survey at the Guggenheim Museum in 2008.
