Betty leads a presentation of a case study demonstrating the sustainable restoration of an 1884 structure, off-the-grid systems, environmental stewardship and lifestyle embraced to approach zero-impact, and larger urban initiatives, here in New York City.
Betty Rexrode AIA is co-founder and principal of Rexrode Chirigos Architects. A relentless environmentalist, Betty carefully maintains the natural landscape, raises Phelon oysters, and is an active member of Cornell SPAT & Billion Oyster Projects; board member of the Great South Bay Island Association; NYC sailor and cyclist, involved with Transportation Alternatives and Bridges4People; AIA Women in Architecture and Committee for the Environment.
Betty received her Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University, with post bac studies at the University of Texas at Austin. A Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt, Betty has taught at Princeton, and is a frequent guest critic at Carnegie Mellon. Betty is a licensed architect, registered in New York and New Jersey, LEED and NCARB certified.
