Designing for Comfort: Rethinking Public Restrooms Through Materiality and Spatial Planning
This talk explores the concept of comfort in public restrooms, emphasizing its significance in a space designed for everyone. As part of my independent study, I examine how materiality and spatial layout influence comfort—encompassing safety, sanitation, and accessibility. Through site visits in NYC and an analysis of materiality and spatial design, I aim to understand user experiences and preferences to develop a balanced design approach suited for various urban settings. This talk also seeks public feedback to inform and refine my research.
