'Inside' the Whereing Podcast: A Podcast About Belonging, Place and Design
Nina Freedman is the host of WHEREING. Whereing explores ‘where we are’. Like clothing, we are ‘WHEREING (wear-ing) our spaces. The podcast is about the layered stories of personal and cultural narratives, and the live, integrative mapping of inner experiences with place. It is the spatial story. In an interview format, Whereing explores connections and disconnections with spaces, and how we equally impact the spaces that impact us. We design, as we are designed. It is about belonging ‘where we are’. In this talk, Nina will discuss the journey and impact of podcasting, and evolving, unexpected takeaways for practice and teaching.
Nina Freedman is a Visiting Associate Professor at Pratt Institute. She has taught at Pratt Institute for 9 years, in the School of Architecture, and School of Design in Interior Design. She additionally teaches at Cornell University (NYC AAP), and has taught at Stanford University (SiNY), and Parsons School of Design. As Principal of Dreamland Creative Projects (DCP), she explores the intersection of psychology and design. Her local, national, and international work include architecture, interiors, furniture collections, and installations. Prior to founding DCP, Freedman was the Director for Shigeru Ban, Associate with Hugh Hardy, and worked with Renzo Piano, Richard Meier, and Paul Rudolph. She hosts Whereing: A Podcast about Belonging, Place and Design. Nina co-founded ArchiteXX, a nonprofit providing co-learning workshops, cross-generational mentorship, and a high school prep program to increase diversity in architecture She holds a B.Arch./M.Arch. from the Architectural Association School of Architecture, and B.S. of Landscape Architecture from the City College of New York.
