In this symposium entitled Breaking Borders, panelists discuss the emerging architectural trends and opportunities in Latin America. The symposium is kickstarted by faculty member Ivan Shumkov, curator of the concurrent Breaking Borders exhibit at Pratt, who explains the reasons behind setting up the exhibit and the symposium. Shumkov introduces British architect and historian Professor Kenneth Frampton, who gives a lecture about prominent figures in Latin American architecture. He is followed by Ana Maria Duran Calisto, and Ecuadorian architect. The University of Pennsylvania educated architect talks about infrastructural integration in Brazil. Next up is Colombian architect Giancarlo Mazzanti who describes the complexities of making architecture in Colombia.
