Philip Gefter

Philip Gefter is an American author, photography critic, and Pratt alumnus (B.F.A. Photography and Painting ‘73). Gefter’s recent biography of Sam Wagstaff, entitled Wagstaff: Before and After Mapplethorpe, positions Wagstaff's personal life against the rise of photography as a major art form and the simultaneous formation of the gay rights movement.
