In the second lecture given at Higgins Hall Auditorium after its opening in 2005, Catherine Ingraham addresses the subject of her upcoming book, Architecture, Animal, Human: The Asymmetrical Condition (2006). Chair of the Architecture and Urban Design Graduate Program at Pratt, Ingraham presents an introduction to her book to students and colleagues. Her research focuses on “our bio-cultural lives” as a species and the role of architecture in providing “variability and variation” to support our own “internal orderliness” rather than merely providing a “permanent address”.
